Let’s face it – the circumstances we’re under in modern day society are rough. There’s inequality, there’s prejudice, there’s discrimination against people of a certain religion, sexuality or even against people with disabilities, which is exactly what this project is fighting for. It’s reality – people with disabilities are experiencing discriminatory behavior on the daily. Whether the behaviors be direct or not, the fact of them having to deal with the ignorance that exists within our society is truly saddening. It’s likely hard for people with special needs to put up with other people projecting their negativism onto them. And that in my opinion shows exactly what their true selves are like – they’re strong, they’re capable. I see them as fighters, i believe they’re everything but what society tells them they are. I consider those people as equals, i don’t think we as “normal” people should view them any different or with any sort of prejudice – they’re human therefore they should have the same rights we have. Which is exactly why i think that there needs to be more awareness brought to the issue. We should be vocal and stand up for them. Because the truth is that we wouldn’t like to be treated the way they are if we looked through their point of view. We can and should do better.
With my partaking in this Erasmus+ Project i had already painted this picture in my mind of what the event would be like, what i would accomplish in my time there and what i would make of it all, and i am happy to say that so far i’ve had nothing but positive feelings towards everything. I personally believe that this project has given me so many opportunities, i’ve been able to establish lots of new friendships, i’ve been also able to get to know new people, possibly learn something from them, make the most of me being there, but most importantly, i’ve been able to give them an opportunity to show that they’re nothing like what society tells them they are.
